FAMILY FEUD 26

SURVEY SAYS...

A daily survey-guessing door where everyone on your BBS plays the exact same board — so the scoreboard is a real competition instead of a list of who got lucky. Three survey rounds, three strikes each, then Fast Money.

The board is built from your BBS name plus the date. No two boards run the same daily game, and a given date always produces the same questions — so a caller making up Tuesday gets precisely the board the early birds got. 14,600 questions in the bank: about five years of daily play before a single one repeats.

We asked 100 sysops: name something you want in a door game.

X X X  — and that's the whole game, really.

In Play

A Family Feud 26 survey round in progress: the question across the top, eight answer boxes with point values, score and strikes along the bottom.

How It Plays

A question comes up with its answers hidden. Type a guess; matching answers flip over and pay whatever the survey gave them. Three strikes ends the round and reveals what you missed. Clear a whole board and take the sweep bonus. Then Fast Money: five questions, one answer each, hit the target and take the bonus.

The matcher is deliberately forgiving, and most of what it knows came from people complaining that it should have taken their answer. It handles typos and letter swaps, singular and plural (including person/people and wife/wives), verb forms (listening = listen, rapper = raps), hyphens, a few hundred synonyms, and category answers — typing gun hits an answer of "Weapon", rat hits "Rodents". It won't let anyone cheese the board the other way: typing "animal" does not claim a "Dog" answer.

One game per caller per day. Miss a day and you can make it up from the calendar; from the 23rd the rest of the month unlocks so callers heading out of town can play ahead. Every day scores exactly once.

Sysop Quick Start

; unpack, edit feud.cfg (set BBSNAME), then for example:

; Mystic (Windows):
C:\BBS\DOORS\FEUD\FEUD64.EXE -DC:\BBS\TEMP%3\DOOR32.SYS

; Mystic (Linux):
/bbs/doors/feud/feud -D/bbs/temp%3/door32.sys

; Local console test:
feud -L

Reads DOOR32.SYS, DOOR.SYS, and DORINFO*.DEF. Set BBSNAME before go-live and leave it alone afterwards — it seeds the daily puzzle. Full setup notes, every config key, and troubleshooting are in sysop.txt inside the zip.
